Mission

DJLabs exists to help engineering teams ship reliable embedded systems — faster. We’re a founder-led embedded systems consultancy. Every engagement is led by a senior engineer — no junior tier, no account layer, no one absorbing margin on a bench. The person you talk to is the person who writes your firmware.

When projects need additional scale or specialised domain knowledge, we bring in trusted specialists from a curated network of embedded, firmware, security, safety, and hardware engineers. This keeps overhead low and expertise high — you get the right people for the problem, without paying for capacity you don’t need.

We work at every layer of the embedded stack, from bare-metal on resource-constrained MCUs to application-layer development on multi-core processors. Clients come to us when they need deep expertise they can’t find in their own team, when timelines are tight, or when a project needs an engineer who can read a schematic, write a device driver, and understand the regulatory landscape.

Philosophy

Depth Over Breadth

Embedded systems spans an enormous range of technologies and disciplines. We don’t claim to know all of them. What we do is go deep on the layers and protocols that matter most for our clients’ products.

When we take on a project, we don’t just deliver working code — we understand why the architecture is the way it is, what the failure modes are, and how it will be maintained five years from now.

First Principles

We believe in understanding systems from the bottom up. When debugging a device driver issue that manifests in application-level crashes, we trace the path all the way from the register bit through the driver layer to the application interface. We don’t fix symptoms.

This approach means we’re effective on problems that other teams have been stuck on for weeks — because we go to the root cause rather than adding workarounds.

How We Work

Every engagement is led by a senior engineer who has shipped embedded products in production. No handoffs to junior staff, no learning on your budget. The person who scopes your problem is the person who solves it — with trusted specialists from our network brought in when the project calls for additional expertise or capacity.

Discovery
We learn your product goals, hardware, timeline, and regulatory requirements. Output: technical assessment, risk analysis, and engagement proposal — no cost, no commitment.
Architecture
We design the system architecture — bare-metal or RTOS, threading model, IPC, memory partitioning, security, update strategy. Decisions are documented and reviewed with your team.
Implementation
We write production firmware and drivers, integrated with your hardware and codebase. Regular deliverables: buildable images, CI, documentation. Code review is continuous.
Delivery
We ship complete, tested, documented embedded software. Deliverables: source code, build system, test reports, and regulatory documentation for your industry.

Values

Technical honesty. We tell you what we know and what we don’t know. We don’t over-promise. If your timeline is tight, we’ll tell you what’s feasible and what isn’t — and why.

Engineer-to-engineer. You talk directly to the senior engineer writing your code. No account managers, no project managers filtering technical decisions through a commercial lens. Every conversation includes the engineer doing the work.

Pragmatic rigour. Regulatory compliance and safety standards are non-negotiable — but the process should serve the product, not the other way around. We apply the right level of process for the risk class, not more.

Continuous learning. Embedded systems technology evolves rapidly — RISC-V, Matter, Zephyr, seL4, formal verification, AI-assisted embedded development. We invest in staying current so our clients benefit from the best approaches available.

How We Scale

DJLabs is led by Daniel Jasinski, a senior embedded engineer with 10+ years of experience across the full embedded stack — hardware bring-up, driver development, RTOS and bare-metal firmware, system architecture, and regulated industry compliance. Dan is personally involved in every engagement, from discovery through architecture to delivery.

For projects requiring additional capacity or specialised expertise, DJLabs draws on a trusted network of experienced embedded, firmware, security, safety, and hardware specialists. This model means the right expertise for your project, without the overhead of a large consultancy — and without paying for bench capacity you don’t need.

Location

We work remotely with clients worldwide and travel for on-site integration, bring-up labs, and face-to-face architecture reviews as needed. Time zone overlap with client teams is a priority in our engagement planning.
